Cecil Stinson and Spencer Smith Named Co-Athletes of the Week

WATERBURY, Conn (November 29, 2010) Post University men’s basketball players Cecil Stinson and Spencer Smith have been named co-athletes of the week. Both players averaged 14.5 points per game in a 2-0 week with wins over Le Moyne and C.W. Post during the Thanksgiving break.

Stinson had two stellar performances last week. His only two free throws of the game against CW Post iced a 77-73 victory for Post University Sunday afternoon at the Drubner Center. On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Stinson tallied 16 points in the Eagles first win of the season, a 69-57 tally over Le Moyne.  

Smith had an equally as impressive week by scoring 15 points against Le Moyne Wednesday and 14 points against C.W. Post on Sunday. Smith was 86.7% from the free throw line and made an impressive momentum swinging layup in the C.W. Post game. Off a missed free throw, Smith darted to the rim and gathered his own rebound before banking in an off balance layup. He would then convert on the three point play after a foul on the play.

Post University’s women’s basketball team did not compete over Thanksgiving break. They will return to action today against Mercy on the road. The men play the first conference game of the season at Dominican on Wednesday to kick off the month of December.
