Women’s Basketball Falls to Washington Adventist 66-62

TAKOMA PARK, MD (November 20, 2011) Despite 21 rebounds and 18 points from Monique Chance, the Post University Eagles fell to Washington Adventist Sunday afternoon by a score of 66-62. The Eagles are now 2-2 this season.
Washington Adventist built a lead as large as nine points in the first half, but Post went on a 12-2 run to take the lead with 8:58 to play.

With 6:27 left in the first half, the Eagle lead was up to eight 26-18, yet heading into the locker rooms the Eagles trailed 33-30.

Washington Adventist opened the second half with a three pointer from Vanessa Rice. Both teams would exchange buckets for the opening minutes of the half.

Post tied the game at 41 with an Aubrey Latham layup with 14:14 remaining.

Latham tallied 15 points and eight rebounds on the day.

As the clock shortened, Washington Adventist went on a 13-5 run late in the contest going up 63-55 with three minutes to play.

With just under two minutes to play, Bianca Lucky pulled down a defensive rebound and Colleen Hanscom was sent to the line for a pair. Colleen made the second cutting the led to seven.

After a defensive stop, Raven Wright-James hit a jumper making it 63-58 with 34 seconds to play. A Washington Adventist free throw extended the lead back to six followed by a Chance layup cutting it back to four in the closing seconds for the 66-62 final.

The Eagles will take on the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday in Bridgeport.
