WATERBURY, Conn. – Post University head men's ice hockey coach
Pete Whitney announced his recruiting class for the upcoming 2016-17 season. The 10-skater class hails from all over North America with newcomers from eight states and Canada.
"Our staff did a great job recruiting the Class of 2020. Coach Richter and Coach Erickson's efforts are appreciated and these ten young men are excited to be a part of building our program and becoming role models within the Post University community. They will fit in great with our current student-athletes and add an additional scoring punch and defensive skills that will help our program continue to grow," said head men's hockey coach

Defensemen
John Drummond (Littleton, Colo./Florida Eels) – Drummond was the alternate captain of the Florida Eels in each of the last two seasons. In 2015, he scored a goal and dished out 14 assists in 40 games. Drummond also was a two-time captain of Team Colorado at the Switzerland Spring Tournament. He was the Class of 2014 valedictorian at Columbine High School and received Post's Malcolm Baldrige Scholarship.
Nick Mancini (Coral Springs, Fla./Palm Beach Hawks) – Mancini served as team captain for the Palm Beach Hawks in the 2015-16 season. In 36 games for the Hawks he scored a goal and added nine assists. Mancini graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 2014 with a 3.7 grade-point average.
Daniel Moore (Stony Point, N.Y./Cape Cod Islanders) – Moore played in 42 games and scored 10 goals while adding 25 assists which ranked in the top-10 among defensemen in the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). He led the team with a +46 ranking, third among defensemen. Moore won the Hobey Baker Character Award and was named Journal News All-County in at North Rockland High School.
Lucas Smith (Calgary, Alberta/Dells Ducks) – Smith was a key member of a Ducks team that won league championships in each of the last two seasons. In his career, the defenseman tallied 10 goals and 28 assists over 71 games. Smith received honors throughout his time at Aberdeen Hall High School in Kelowna, British Columbia
Forwards
Tyler Hackett (Branford, Conn./Hartford Junior Wolfpack A) – Hackett appeared in 18 games for the Hartford Junior Wolfpack A team last year scoring two goals and dishing out six assists. He also spent a season with the Connecticut Wolfpack U18 and in 58 games recorded 24 goals and 28 assists. Hackett is a hard-nosed forward known for his toughness and puck-moving ability.
Mike Jessman (Falmouth, Mass./Cape Cod Islanders) – Jessman helped lead the Cape Cod Islanders to the NA3EHL Championship in 2015-16 with team highs in goals (36), assists (52), and points (88). At Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree, Mass., Jessman tallied 105 points in his career.
Steven McHale (Homewood, Ill./Richmond Generals) – McHale played in 76 games for the Richmond Generals of the U.S. Hockey League (USPHL) tallying 17 goals and 36 assists for 53 points. He is a graduate of Homewod-Flossmoor High School.
Matthew Moreschi (Malden, Mass./East Coast Minutemen) – Moreschi tied for second in scoring on the East Coast Minutemen this season with 10 goals, 17 assists, and 27 points in 32 games. The forward was selected to the NA3EHL East Division Prospects Team and scored a goal at the NA3HL Showcase. Off the ice, Moreschi was named to the Dean's List at Malden Catholic High School.
Ryan Wagner (Smithfield, R.I./Walpole Express) – In 34 games for the Walpole Express last season, Wagner scored 10 goals and dished out nine assists. He is the first-ever player from the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) Elite Division to commit to an NCAA program. Wagner will major in Sport Management and is a member of Post's Honors Program.
Kyle Weiss (Andover, N.J./New England Stars) – Weiss served as the captain of the New England Stars last season. He played with the Stars for two years, scoring 26 goals and dishing out 19 assists in 88 games.
