Box Score

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's lacrosse team was defeated at home by No. 12 Molloy, 19-6, on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 3-7 on the season.

Both teams took eight shots each in the first quarter, but the Lions found the back of the next six times and led 6-0 at the break. Freshman Kyle Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) got the Eagles on the board with 5:00 remaining in the first half on an extra-man opportunity. He added another with 2:10 left as Post trailed 8-2 at halftime.

After a goal by Molloy early in the second half, the Eagles forced a turnover and freshman Alex Brownlee (Syracuse, N.Y.) cut the deficit to 9-3. Later in the third, junior Anthony DeRosa (Toms River, N.J.) made a save and Post cleared the ball back to its offensive zone. Brownlee took a pass from freshman Jack Kearney (Sandy Hook, Conn.) and scored his second goal of the game.

Shannon added his third score of the day with under a minute remaining in the third quarter off an assist from sophomore Shane McKay (Hempstead, N.Y.) to make the score 14-5 through three periods. Freshman Tim Wright (Waterloo, N.Y.) scored the Eagles' final goal with 5:50 left in the game.

Molloy held a slim 33-30 advantage in total shots, but had 27 on goal compared to just 17 for Post. The Eagles picked up 22 ground balls, four players had three on the day. Tom Engelhardt had four goals and four assists for the Lions.
