Men’s Basketball Falls To Daemen 88-80

Desrosiers Named To All-Tournament Team

AMHERST, N.Y. – The Post University men's basketball team lost its final game of the ECC-CACC Challenge 88-80 to host Daemen on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 0-2 on the young season. Freshman Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.) was finished with a team-high 21 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Eagles were down by as many as 12 points in the first half as Daemen held a 28-16 lead with 10:34 left in the period.

Desrosiers nailed one of his five three-pointers on the day off a dish by senior Nardie Bogues (Baltimore, Md.) to spark an 11-2 run which cut the deficit to 30-27. Freshman Joseph Lockwood (London, England) and Travis Flagg (Queens, N.Y.) each had three points during the run. The Wildcats responded with nine straight points and took a 45-34 lead into the break.

Post began to chip away at the lead to start the second and cut the deficit to 49-44 after a three-point play by freshman Matt Mareno (San Francisco, Calif.). After Daemen jumped back in front by double-digits, the Eagles responded with a 12-5 stretch to pull within three at 60-57 with 6:48 left.

Daemen pulled ahead by 11 with 3:18 remaining, but Post would not go away as Bogues hit from distance with 1:29 left to make the score 83-78. The Eagles could never get closer.

Bogues finished with 13 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. Post outrebounded the Wildcats 39-28, including a 21-5 margin offensively.

The Eagles open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at Concordia. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
