WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University baseball team has taken a break from offseason workouts the past few weeks to participate in some events around the community. Associate head baseball coach
Ray Ricker has organized a program called "Sacrifice Fly" as a way of getting the team involved in helping out in the local area.
"It is the design of 'Sacrifice Fly' to show that these young men are a role model to everyone in the community and embody the spirit of Post University," said Ricker.
The team painted the teen center at the Waterbury Boys and Girls Club. They also cooked up a turkey taco meal at the Ronald McDonald House in New Haven, which is the only one in the state of Connecticut. The Ronald McDonald House is a temporary "home away from home" for families of children who are being treated at nearby hospitals and healthcare facilities,
"While recruiting we look for not only talented baseball players but great character out of the young men. These student-athletes have not only proven a strong desire to be talented athletes but have shown to be even better young men," added Ricker.
