No. 9 Eagles Pick Up 2-0 Victory At Georgian Court

Sastre Scores Seventh Goal In Last Nine Games

Box Score

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Senior Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica) recorded his seventh shutout of the season as the No. 9 Post University men's soccer team defeated Georgian Court 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in the first-ever meeting between the two. The Eagles are unbeaten in 10 straight games and improve to 11-1-1 overall and 9-1-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

Post put the pressure on early with two shots on goal in the first ten minutes of the game. Both were saved by Lions' goalkeeper Rylan Gentil.

Georgian Court committed a foul in penalty area in the 12th minute to give the Eagles a penalty kick. Gentil guessed right on senior Joe Baccielo's (Stratford, Conn.) shot and made the stop. Sophomore Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) secured the rebound and made a pass to junior Terrell Whitting (Naugatuck, Conn.) for a goal to put Post ahead 1-0.

The Eagles continued to get chances in the first half and held an 8-2 advantage in shots during the period.

Sophomore Francisco Sastre (Sao Paolo, Brazil) extended Post's advantage in the 81st minute with a long shot from outside the 18-yard box off a pass from junior Jose Monterroza (Los Angeles, Calif.). Sastre has scored seven goals in the last nine games.

Lindsay made three saves on the afternoon. Post held a 13-5 advantage in shots and an 8-5 margin in corner kicks.

"This well-earned victory on the road was a great way to end the week. We are looking forward to the opportunity to play the number one team in the country on Wednesday," said head coach Ted Haley.

Post sits alone in first place in the CACC with 27 points, five points ahead of Philadelphia. The Eagles need either a win or tie in any of their final two conference games to clinch their third straight CACC Regular Season Championship.

The Eagles welcome No. 1 LIU-Post to LaMoy Field on Wednesday, Oct. 23 in a battle of top-10 teams. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
