WATERBURY, Conn. – In a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest that featured seven ties and 13 lead changes, the Post University men's basketball team dropped a 68-63 decision to North Division leader Dominican on Wednesday night at the Drubner Center. Junior Jerry Cummings (Queens, N.Y.) led the Eagles with 13 points and classmates Devin Willis (Seattle, Wash.) and Zach Krischer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) added 12 points apiece.

Over the first 3:39 of the contest, Post opened up a 13-4 advantage behind six points from Cummings. Krischer capped the spurt with a triple at the 13:33 mark. The Eagles grew their first half lead as large as nine points, 21-12, on a triple by sophomore Braxton Gardner (Bridgeport, Conn.). Gardner's bucket came at the 9:16 mark.

Dominican (15-3, 9-1 CACC) took its first lead of the game on a Khaleev Ginyard triple with 54 seconds remaining in the half. Junior Effrin Ellison (Waterbury, Conn.) gave Post a 34-33 advantage with 16 seconds left after a three-pointer, but A.J. Burton hit a field goal as time expired to send the Chargers into the locker room with a 35-34 lead.

With the score tied at 47-47 and 12:26 to play in the second half, the Chargers used a 12-2 run over a span of 4:28 to seize a 57-49 lead. However, Post (11-8, 7-5 CACC) scored eight consecutive points over the next 1:35 to level the score at 57-57 with 5:58 remaining. Krischer and Willis hit triples and freshman Gediminas Juozapavicius (Kedainiai, Lithuania) nailed a layup.

A Krischer triple with 2:27 to go gave Post a 63-61 lead; however, Dominican scored the final seven points of the contest to secure the win.

Post was limited to 39 percent shooting from the field, but nailed 10 triples and shot 47.6 percent from beyond the arc. Dominican boasted a field goal percentage of 52 percent. Individually, Cory Quimby notched a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

The Eagles will take to the road for a CACC contest at Goldey-Beacom on Saturday, Jan. 26. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
