Box Score

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – With a 77-60 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road victory at Concordia Tuesday evening, the Post University men's basketball team completed its four-game road trip with a 3-1 record. Powered by a balanced scoring attack and four players with at least 12 points, the Eagles were led by senior James Lee (Montclair, N.J.) who tallied a game-high 18 points at the Meyer Athletic Center.

Lee shot 9-for-13 from the field and grabbed six rebounds and two steals. Junior Sarunas Jackson (Corona, Calif.) and senior Josh Lopez (Anchorage, Alaska) scored 15 points apiece, while junior Jake Wilcox (Kent, Wash.) notched 12 points and eight assists.

Post (7-11, 5-4 CACC) claimed its first lead of the game, one it would not relinquish with 15:37 remaining in the opening half, on a pair of Jackson free throws. Over a span of 6:21, the Eagles would grow the lead to as many as eight on four occasions. Junior Dantay Sanford (Compton, Calif.) made the score 24-16 after a free throw at the 10:10 mark. Lopez made the score 24-16 at 7:11, and a pair of Lee dunks made the Post lead eight points at 4:26 and 3:29 to make the score 34-26 and 36-28, respectively.

The Eagles scored 10 of the final 12 points of the first half, over the last 2:56 of the stanza. Jackson bookended the spurt with a free throw to start things and a field goal to wrap it up with 20 seconds to play. His layup was a second chance opportunity off a Lopez miss. The score at the break was 46-32.

Concordia (8-10, 5-5 CACC) got as close as nine, 48-39, with 18:35 on a Norman Pope layup. However, just 3:02 later, junior Jerry Cummings (La Plata, Md.) and Lopez hit consecutive baskets to drive the Post lead back to 15 points.

Post grew its lead as large as 23 points, 74-51, during a 7-0 run in the second half. Jackson started the run with a layup, while Lee scored four points during the run, including a dunk that capped the spurt.

The Eagles shot 48.3 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from three-point range. Post caused 24 Concordia turnovers and the Eagles notched 11 steals. Post assisted on 14 of 28 baskets, including four assists from Cummings.

For Concordia, Argelix Gil finished with 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Pope added 12 points for the host Clippers.

On Thursday, Jan. 26, the Post University Athletics Department will partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to present a CACC basketball doubleheader between the host Eagles and the Caldwell Cougars.
