NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Fourteen Post University student-athletes were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Fall All-Academic Team on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles' men's soccer program led the way for Post with six student-athletes on the list. Women's soccer and volleyball each added three honorees, while cross country notched two student-athletes on the list.
Under the direction of head coach
Ted Haley, the men's soccer program boasted a department-leading six individuals on the squad. Senior
Hylton Davis (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica/Business Administration) was honored for the third time in his collegiate career. A trio of juniors –
Matt Luis (Naugatuck, Conn./Business Administration),
Korab Muaremi (Middlebury, Conn./Sports Management) and
Mark Risbridger (Southampton, England) – became two-time honorees. Classmate
Grant Neuendorf (Norwich, Conn./Sociology) and sophomore
Joe Baccielo (Stratford, Conn./Marketing) were honored for the first time in their collegiate careers.
Three women's soccer players were also awarded for their success in the classroom. Junior
Sara Cramer (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Legal Studies), a two-time honoree, was joined by sophomores
Grace McConnell (Leeds, England/Psychology) and
Gabrielle Verrilli (Naugatuck, Conn./Biology) on the CACC Fall All-Academic Team.
Head Coach
Mike Brienza's volleyball squad also had three named to the All-Academic Team. Seniors
Courtney Braun (Groton, Conn./Criminal Justice) and
Taylor Doyle (Mystic, Conn./Sports Management) and junior
Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J./Psychology) made up the list for the Eagles. Doyle is a three-time award winner and Hayes collected her second award.
Senior
Barbara Almeida (Golas Brazil/Environmental Science) and sophomore
Jessica Kaszas (Bloomsbury, N.J./Psychology) of the women's cross country team were lauded as well.
In total, 188 student-athletes were awarded by the conference. In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic team, recipients must have participated in a CACC-Championship sport in the fall. They must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester.
